Immigrated on 23 Mar 1911 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. <p> Hebrew name was Yhuda Labe. <p> Labe had a sister, Jenny, who died in Lithuania. Labe was married in Lithuania, but his wife couldn't give him any children, so they obtained a religious divorce after about 10 years. <P> Etta, his 2nd wife, was 17 years younger than Labe. <p> Labe had the largest bakery in Kovno, with 5 servants. Etta's mother, Molly Edith Mark, lived with them until her death in 1920. <p> According to Doris Posner Brown, daughter of Bellle Apel in a letter dated June 5, 1092, Labe was never naturalized. He was a prosperous baker. His first wife was childless. His 2nd wife, Yetta, had 10 children, one died in childbirth. <P>Died at residence 927 Claremont Ave, Chgo, 13th ward Registration WPA index to Cook County Deaths, 1871-1932: #15659 LDS #1295943 WPA Cook Co death index (Died 11 Ayar 5680) Etta Appel died 17 NOV. 1934, aged 78 years. Large stone with pictures on stone. Died 10 Kislev 5695. Buried source headstone: Yhuda Labe bar Tovah 11 Ayar 5680. <p> Last seen alive April 29, 1920. Died at 2 p.m. by cerebral hemorahage. Duration 4 days. Contributory: chronic intertitial nephritis pod at home. No operation or autopsy. Dr. Max Meyerovitz MD, 11600 W. Taylor Street, Arpril 29, 1920, phone #Geeley 6317 burial Forest park 4-30-20. <P> Belle Appel Posner's petition for naturalization, they left Tavrig and the family arrived on 23 March 1911 thru Philadelphia PA with family members "Laba, Yetta, Sora, Maier, Beila, Yonka." They were traveling with friends-the Pikovski family.
