Cecelia Paprocki Pagel: August was in the Prussian calvary for three ye
ars just before he married. When they came to the US, they stopped at A
ugust's uncle in Chicago. The uncle owned a hardware store.
About 1925, August's brother's daughter, Elsa Pagel, lived with August. A
t this time, August was writting to relatives in Germany and sending th
em money. The relatives felt August wasn't giving them enough and he st
opped writing and sending money.
All of August's brothers and sisters stayed in Germany. After WWII, Aug
